General (yarn and representation thereof): Information provided on this website is for guidance only. Website contents and yarn specifications may change without warning. I have tried to accurately represent colours in photographs in photographs and colour descriptions, however monitor settings vary considerably, as may individuals' colour perceptions.
Yarn weights and measurements are approximate and intended for guidance only, and are based on suppliers' specifications. Yarn is dyed in small batches of 1-5 skeins, and most colourways are unrepeatable. If your skein has a dyelot marked on it, it may be repeatable but there are likely to be significant differences between batches, so it is recommended that you ensure you purchase enough yarn for your intended project. If you are using more than one skein for your project, alternating skeins as you work is recommended.
I rinse skeins multiple times to ensure they are colourfast and excess dye removed, however I recommend handwashing finished projects separately in cool water the first wash or two or until you are satisfied that there is no colour bleeding. Gentle handwashing with a wool detergent is recommended thereafter to preserve the intensity of the colours and prevent felting of non-superwash yarns. Jute fibres may occasionally appear in yarn as I use it to tie my skeins in the dye bath. I reskein all my yarn as this allows me to identify any quality problems (e.g. numerous knots, though occasional knots are an annoying reality). You may find your yarn smells slightly woody from the cedar blocks I store my yarn with (it's a moth deterrent).
I am a crocheter rather than a knitter, so I'm unlikely to be able to provide guidance about needle sizes. I recommend winding skeins into a ball/cake before working, rather than working directly from the skein! Don't have a ball winder and hate winding skeins? 'Cake' winding service usually available on request.
Privacy: I never pass your details on to any third party. I do not spam, and will only send information regarding special offers, for example, when you have explicity consented to your information being used in this way (e.g. through opting in to a newsletter service, if available).
Images: All images on this websites are Copyright Copyright © 2011 Abstract Cat Crafts or other parties from whom I have obtained permission to use their images. Please do not use images without permission.
Allergies and sensitivities: My products come from a smoke-free but cat-loving environment. I try to ensure no feline contact with the yarn, but this cannot be guaranteed. I use non-toxic synthetic dyes and any dye residue should be harmless.
Contact: If you need to contact me, the quickest way is to use the 'message to seller' facility on MISI or Folksy. The address for correspondence is: 20 Coldstream Avenue, Dunblane, Perthshire, FK15 9JN. Please note that other than retail outlets listed on the 'Buy' page Abstract Cat Crafts is an online-only business and this address is not open to the public, sorry!
Prices: I try to keep prices consistent but sometimes price rises are neccessary. I try to give fair warning, but sometimes prices may need to be increased at short notice.
Links to external sites: I may include links to external websites. These are provided for information and I am not responsible for the availability, functionality or content of these sites. A link to an external website should not be interpreted as an endorsement of that site.
Liability: The content of this website is provided for information and guidance only. Your use of this information is at your own risk, and it is your responsibility to ensure your use of such information (or products or services) meets your requirements. Whilst I endeavour to provide accurate information, I cannot guarantee accuracy, availability, suitability or completeness of website contents.
Yarn may be purchased from the outlets listed on the 'Buy' page (or websites listed on the right of this page). Paypal in Pounds Sterling (£/GBP) is the only method of payment accepted for online purchases. You do not have to register for a Paypal account to buy from the Folksy and MISI websites.
Shipping and delivery: No goods will be dispatched until cleared payment has been received. I usually send all orders within two working days unless I advise that there will be a delay (e.g. local holiday or illness). All UK orders are sent Royal Mail First Class unless Special Delivery is requested (available for an additional charge, and recommended for orders over £46 in value). First Class usually arrives within 1-3 working days but at busy times of year or in severe weather conditions, for example, may take much longer. Royal Mail do not investigate missing items until 15 working days have passed. Please let me know if your order does not arrive within this timescale. I am not responsible for Royal mail delays once items have been posted.
International Orders: I ship internationally to most countries. Due to insurance restrictions I am unable to ship to the USA or Canada. International postage is calculated automatically on the Folksy and MISI websites. If postage is overpaid significantly at checkout I will refund the difference between shipping charged and shipping paid by Paypal, minus a small allowance for packaging. International orders are sent by Airmail, but the time taken to reach your country may vary greatly. I am located in the UK and all transactions are subject to UK law. International orders may be subject to a customs charge. This is the responsibility of the buyer/recipient. I am unable to mark goods as 'gifts' for customs purposes.
Custom orders: I do undertake custom orders by arrangement, depending on yarn availability, customer requirements and my abilities. A deposit may be required for larger commissions (four or more skeins).
Returns: In compliance with the Distance Selling Regulations, purchases from my Folksy and MISI shops may be returned within 7 days of receipt by the buyer, for a full refund. Whilst I will refund the original postage payment, the buyer is responsible for the cost of returning the item, unless the return is due to an error by the seller or fault that was not indicated at time of sale. I ask that products are returned in unused condition - yarn that smells of smoke, for example, cannot be resold. I also recommend that returns are sent recorded delivery as proof of posting is not proof of receipt, and I cannot accept liability for returned goods lost or damaged in transit. Please contact me before returning yarn. Refunds or exchanges will be issued upon satisfactory receipt of returned goods.Return to top
